SIAN KA’AN BIOSPHERE – DELUXE TRIP BY BOAT !!!!
For the nature oriented, Sian Ka’an is a tropical paradise of superlatives. Sian Ka’an means “where the sky is born” in Mayan – name for the 1.3 million acres of grass savannas, mangrove lagoons, white sand flats, and 70 miles of the second largest barrier reef in the world.
The Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve is home to a variety of rare and spectacular creatures including dolphins, manatees, tropical fish and hundreds of species of exotic birds.
After less than 10 km of a bumpy and dusty road in the middle of the jungle, you’ll arrive to our beautiful pier, at the beginning of the Campechen lagoon. Here you’ll be boarding on a typical fisherman speed boat, where expert captains will be waiting for you. You’ll be taken up to the village of Punta Allen crossing mangroves canals, exploring unique places and looking for animals, such as crocodiles, birds and maybe manatees.
Once you’ll reach the typical fisherman village of Punta Allen, you’ll get on another boat to start the second part of this thrilling adventure: you’ll be surfing the waves looking for dolphins, you’ll be racing with the sea turtles waiting to see them coming up to breath next to your boat, you’ll be snorkelling on the second longest reef in the world and you’ll finally relax in a true corner of paradise, the natural pools, amazed by its colours.
Lunch will be served in the exclusive restaurant Fisherman of Punta Allen, where from July till February you could eat not only a tasty buffet, but also some super fresh lobster, just fished!
Before going back to the lagoon pier where your captain will be waiting, you’ll visit the village. A 15 minutes’ walk in a place where the people still live on few things, taking advantage of what they can find in the sea and in the jungle, far from the noise of the society.
At last, your captain will take you back through the lagoon to the peer close to the entrance of the Biosphere. From here, back to the civilisation of Tulum.
We will meet our guide and he gives a short information about the Sian Ka’an Bio Preserve.
For those inexperienced in snorkeling we will give a short introduction, so we will be ready to go out by boat. We’ll start searching for wild bottlenose dolphins. There is a group living permanently in Sian Ka’an. Through six years of operation we have developed a relationship where they come to see us to the same place, almost every time, not for food but curiosity. Have your cameras ready for the most amazing pictures!
Same day we will look for Hawksbill and white turtles and do some bird watching. We will have the opportunity to see birds as pelicans, bobo, cormoran and other species in their sexual flirting and nesting. Flamingo, spoon bill, eagles, parrots and herons are common to see.
At the end of the trip we will stop at one of the reefs to look for starfish, different corals, tropical fish and other reef creatures.
RECOMMENDATION: Bring a bathing suit, sunscreen and a towel.
NOTE: An extra charge of $3.00 US dollars to enter the reef (National park) is not included in the price.
